Obituary of Esther I. Dalton

On Thursday March 5th, 2020, Esther I. Dalton, loving mother of 3 and adoring grandmother of 9 and great-grandmother of 5, passed away at the age of 85.

Esther was born in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland on December 19, 1934 of Kathleen and John Dunphy. In 1955, Esther met and married Herbert M. Dalton in Bedford, England and moved to the states. Esther primarily resided in Newtown Square raising her three children and volunteering at the Newtown Square library and Brandywine River Museum.

Esther loved to read, play bridge, garden, and complete the NYT crossword puzzles. She enjoyed spending time and laughing with family and close loved ones. A devout Catholic, Esther was a parishioner at St. Anastasia in Newtown Square, and later in life, at Epiphany of Our Lord in Plymouth Meeting.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary, husband Herb and her elder son, William (Tracey). She is survived by her sister Bernadette, brothers Liam and Damien, daughter, Sarah Kerr (Brad) and son, Mark Dalton (Christina) along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 at Epiphany of Our Lord located at 3040 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 at 11AM with a visitation prior from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
