Obituary of Irene Theresa Schindler
Irene Theresa (Snitzer) Schindler, 94 years young of Lafayette Hill Pa and Naples Fl, peacefully passed away at Vitas In-Patient Hospital Naples Fl on Saturday, August 3, 2019. Irene was born in Frackville, Pa on October 14, 1924. She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Theresa (Skakandy) Snitzer; husband of 55 years, Clifford; sisters Helen, Mary, Julia and brothers Martin, Michael, Joseph. Irene is survived by her daughter Gena, son Rick, grandson Erich and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was a graduate of Frackville High School and began her career working for the Bell Telephone Company as an operator and continued working throughout the many changes of the Company until her retirement on November 21, 1975.
Irene had a great love for Philadelphia sports. She loved to watch the Phillies play ball on TV and attend games including two World Series; fly with the Eagles and yell out fouls for the 76er’s. She knew the names of every player and the team managers. Irene loved to go for walks, go to consignment shops, talk on the phone and her favorite was baking the best pound cake and homemade cookies from scratch for family and friends.
Irene loved helping others especially her family and friends near and far. She also shared herself by volunteering since 1984 at Monkey Business Consignment Shop that benefited Chestnut Hill Hospital; Senior Circle member of Chestnut Hill Hospital; Life Time Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Liberty Bell Chapter No. 6; Deborah Hospital, HeartBeat Life Member; Deborah Hospital Foundation, Life Member; Deborah Hospital Foundation Regional Life Member; and Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, Naples Florida Area.
Irene was a devoted Member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Lafayette Hill Pa for 60 years. Her faith was unwavering throughout the peaks and valleys of her life. Because of that, as she reached the end of her life, she was at peace. She is now in heaven with God and her many relatives and friends that she missed so very much.
A memorial Service will be held to celebrate her life well lived on Monday, October 14, 2019. Visitation with family and friends at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill Pa 19444.
