Obituary of Patrick G. Hansberry
Patrick Gerard “Pat” Hansberry died peacefully on July 20, 2019 after a period of declining health. He was a longtime resident of the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.
Pat was born on December 17, 1958. He was the son of the late Mary Ellen (Broderick) and the late James Hansberry. He was raised in Lafayette Hill.
He graduated from Archbishop Kennedy High School in 1976. He served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
He worked at the Veteran’s Administration in Philadelphia as a computer operator until his retirement in 2011.
Pat was an avid reader and especially enjoyed the works of Louis L’Amour, Zane Grey and Sherlock Holmes. He loved the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead and attended a number of their concerts over the years.
He was a classic car buff and liked to reminisce about the Triumph TR6 he owned back in the day.
He enjoyed walking along the Wissahickon and would often visit with his grandfather (“Pop”) during his walks. When Pop died, Pat happily purchased the family home where he lived for the rest of his life.
Pat was a kind and generous uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Pat is survived by his seven siblings: Mary Ellen (Larry) Moore, James Hansberry, Kathleen Kingsley, Michael (Patty) Hansberry, Anne Gorman, Marie Theresa Hansberry and Maureen Hansberry.
Also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Kevin) Flamm, Larry Thomas Moore, Katie (Dan) Baur, Alina Hansberry, Sarah Gorman, Deanna Hansberry, Max Hansberry, Mike Flamm and Charlotte Flamm.
In addition to his parents, Pat was predeceased by his sister Patricia.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 10 AM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 3301 W Cheltenham Ave, Philadelphia PA 19150.
