Obituary of Joseph W. DeSalvo
Joseph W. DeSalvo, age 78, of Lafayette Hill passed away on Saturday evening, May 4th. He was the son of Albert and Anna DeSalvo and grew up in South Philadelphia where he met his wife of 53 years, Mary Jane. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Prep, he entered the printing industry where he spent the majority of his career as a commercial printing salesman working with a multitude of clients in the greater Philadelphia area. His professionalism, knowledge and passion for his customers helped to fuel a successful career of over 45 years.
Joe and Mary Jane raised their family in Roxborough, moved to Lafayette Hill in 1988 and spent many summers at their home on the shore in Ocean City, New Jersey. Joe was a devoted father and husband, being seen at many school and sporting events over the years. He and Mary Jane enjoyed traveling with friends across the country. Joe was always there for many people with advice, a good laugh and a Manhattan. He was a devoted grandfather and lit up whenever he saw his grandsons, Christopher and Chase.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, his children, Joe and Mary, his sister, Madeleine Sweeney, his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9th at St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill from 6 to 8 pm and on Friday, May 10th from 9:30 to 11 am followed by a mass of Christian burial.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Joe's name to Saint Joseph's Preparatory School, 1733 Girard Ave, Phila, PA 19130
