Obituary of Joseph Smalley

Joseph Michael Smalley, Age 49, of Blue Bell, PA passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 surrounded by his beloved wife, family and friends after a long and heroic battler with Cholangiocarcinoma.  

Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 22, 1969.  Joe was the son of Richard and Maryanne Smalley.  Joe graduated from North Catholic High School in 1987 and attended Temple University earning a bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance.  Joe was a successful, accomplished and well-respected mortgage banker. He prided himself on the relationships that he built with his clients and customers, often referring to them as an extension of his family.

Joe was a devoted father, husband and son.  His passion for his family was like non-other.  Joe treasured the time he spent with them. A day did not go by where he was not filled with pride for his family, as they meant more than anything in the world to him.  His greatest joys were attending and coaching his children’s sports, spending summers at the shore, trips to Disney and Friday nights in Fishtown.  Any time spent with family and friends was cherished.  To put it simply, Joe had a smile that was infectious, love of life that was contagious, and genuine love of all those he held dear. If you were fortunate enough to be loved by Joe, then you were blessed beyond measure.

Joe is survived by his wife, Meredith Krebs Smalley; his children Nicholas, Christian and Giavanna; his mother, Maryanne, dear aunt, Bruna Anne and his mother-in-law, Kathleen.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 9am until 11am at St. Helena Church, Blue Bell, PA.  A Christian burial mass will be immediately following the visitation. Interment will be held privately.
