Michele (Anderson) Lownes

It is with great sadness that the Husband of Michele (Anderson) Lownes from Newmanstown, PA announces her passing after a brief illness on Friday, 28 Dec 2018 at 1023 am at the age of 64 years.  She died very peacefully in the arms of her devoted Husband Rob at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Michele was born on 5 Apr 1954 in Lebanon, PA and will be warmly remembered by her Husband, Rob of 17 years.  She is survived by her brothers William "Mike" (Becky), Ernest "Ernie" (Mary), David (Beverly), and Jesse.  She was the daughter of William and Arlene Anderson and was lovingly raised in the home of Hobart "Hobie" and June Rittle (Aunt and Uncle) of Newmanstown, PA. and immediate cousins Becky, Lori, Kenneth "Butch", Julie, Scott, Tim and Debbie.   Michele will also be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Michele started her Veterans Administration (VA) career in 1977 as a nursing assistant.  During her tenure, she received a full Nursing Scholarship to Reading Area Community College and graduated with honors in 1992.  She served in the Air National Guard as a member of the 193rd Transportation Weather Support Group in Middletown PA.  She retired from the VA in in 2009 and embraced her chickens, dogs , gardening, culinary interests and her traveling with her Husband Rob.  

Michele was well loved by her peers and co-workers as her love and compassion for nursing brought her back to Wellspan Hospital at the Surgical Center and was a current employee at the time of her death. 

A celebration of Life service for Michele will be held a the Lebanon VA Medical Center Chapel 1700 S Lincoln Ave, Lebanon PA17042 on Jan 16 2019 at 2pm with Pastor John Galle officiating.  Donations may be made to Lebanon VAMC c/o Hospice.
