Carmella Mary Rizzo was born July 25th, 1916 during World War I. One of four daughters and three sons, the third in sequence of birth. The daughter of first generation Americans , she was exposed to the meaning of earning her station in life. Her family unit was a composite of a family working as one to progress while appreciating the value of individuality. These attributes no doubtedly created the foundation for the attraction and marriage to young, Frank L Rizzo on April 18th, 1942, whose drive and determination preceded him.  Early on Francis S. was born in 1943 followed by his sister, Joanna E. in 1950. The attributes of family and respect embodied her family guidance until July 15th, 2018. She encouraged these values daily until her death only one day short of the 27th anniversary of Frank L. Rizzo’s death. She was consistent and dignified as first lady of Philadelphia, and loved and admired by so many.
