Obituary of Dorothy Mae Foote

Dorothy Mae (Archer) Foote died at the age of 96 on November 7 at Luther Acres in Lititz, PA, where she lived since 2000, following a 50-year residency in Lafayette Hill. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 73 years, Earl, in February 2011. Dorothy was born on May 26, 1916, to William J. and Louise A. (Blaetz) Archer in Philadelphia. She graduated from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia in 1933. A devoted homemaker, she also enjoyed needlework and reading. For a number of years, she volunteered at Chestnut Hill Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill and was formerly a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norristown and Trinity Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, and Mediator Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, where she met and married Earl. Dorothy is survived by daughters, Carol L. Hoffman of Norristown and Susan H. Holte (John) of Arlington, VA, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill ,3025 Church Rd. Lafayette Hill,Pa. 19444on November 12, at 11am, with internment immediately following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11am Monday at the church. Contributions in her memory can be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are by the Lownes Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill.
