Joan P. O'Connell, age 59 of Norristown PA, died suddenly Saturday (10/13) at her home in Norristown. She was a Retired Librarian For Temple University . Joan was born in Phila., PA, the daughter of the late John J. and the late Catherine Coll O'Connell. Joan was raised in Lafayette Hill,Pa. and was a graduate of Saint Philip Neri School, Mount Saint Joseph Accademy, Boston Univ. where she received a degree in Journalism and went on to obtain her Masters degree in Library Science at Clarion Univ. While residing in Norristown, she was a member of Saint Patricks Church. Joan was an avid reader, crossword puzzles and enjoyed traveling and visiting museums with her friends. She is survived by two sisters: Mary Kay Kenealy of Greenville, SC, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Feeny of Cleveland, OH one brother: John P. O'Connell of West Chester, PA step brother, Michael Gordon of Fla.; 4 Aunts And Neices, nephews, She was predeceased by a sister-Sheila Vallillo (Michael) Friends may call Thursday 10/18/12 from 10:30-11:30am at Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA. Funeral mass will be held at 11:30 am Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Lower Merion. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
