John R. "Bob" Waldron Sr., age 87 of Blue Bell PA, died Friday (8/17) at Normandy Farms Estates,Blue Bell,Pa. He was a retired Pharmaceutical Manager For Novartis in their Phila. Division.
Mr. Waldron Sr. was born in Phila., PA, the son of the late James and the late Mary Walsh Waldron.
Bob was a graduate of Saint Thomas More H.S. class of 1943 and Saint Joseph Univ. class of 1949.
Bob Was a WW 2 Army Air Corps Veteran serving at the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was awarded the American Theator Medal,The Victory Ribbon,The EAME Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars,The Air Meda; #220 Hqs 1st with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters,The Good Conduct Medal and Overseas Bar.
Bob and his wife Betty after moving from the Overbrook section of Phila. to Plymouth Meeting were founding members of Epiphany of Our Lord Church where he was active as a former President of their Holy Name Society, Eucharistic minister and usher.
He also had volunteered for many years at Saint Joseph's Villa in Flourtown and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan but was a die hard Saint Joseph Hawks basketball fan.
Bob loved to travel especially to Ireland and he enjoyed gardening, card playing and reading.
He is survived by his wife- Elizabeth "Betty" (Tobin ) Waldron
two daughters: Sr. Elizabeth A. Waldron SSJ of Bethlehem, Pa, Maureen Waldron of W.Norriton, Pa.
one son: Dr. John R. Waldron Jr. (Kathleen) of Medford, NJ
*He was predeceased by 2 daughters, Patricia and Collen Waldron.
3 Grandchildren-Colleen, Sean, Patrick, 3 Great Grand-Brayden, Kaitlyn and Maggie
Friends may call Wednesday 8/22/12 from 9:30-10:45am at Saint Helena Church, 1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Lower Merion.
