Obituary of Burton P. Stevens

Burton P."Pete" Stevens, age 91 of Harleysville formerly of Whitemarsh TWP. died Wednesday (6/20) at the Peter Becker Community. He was a retired salesman for Management Recruiters and for many years helped his father manage their family Hardware Store. Mr. Stevens was born in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Burton P. and the late Ethel Crombie Stevens Sr. Mr. Stevens was raised in Rochester,NY and graduated from East High School in Rochester and went on to Heidelburg College in Ohio.He was a veteran of WW2 and served in the US Navy. For many years he was active in various local chorus groups such as the Main Liners in Bryn Mawr and the Whitemarsh Militia Men and the Songsters in Rochester. He was a member of Saint Peters Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill and was a long time member of their choir. While living in Rochester he became a member of the Masonic Order. While living in the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville Mr. Stevens was active in the vetererans group there. He is survived by his wife of 61 yrs.- Dolores "Dee" (Smith) Stevens two daughters: Deborah Haig (William) of Harleysville, PA, Patricia Stevens of Hatfield, PA one son: James P. Stevens of Blackwood, NJ 1 Grandson-Zane, Friends may call Saturday 6/23/12 from 10-11am at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, 3025 Church Rd., Lafayette Hill, PA.. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Burial will be in the George Washington Memorial Park, Contributions may be made to above church.. Funeral arrangements are by the Lownes Funeral Home of Lafayette Hill.
