Obituary of J. Robert Behrman

J. Robert Behrman, age 97 of Lafayette Hill PA, died Thursday (12/1) in the Masonic Village of Lafayette Hill. He was a Retired Director Of Operations For Allan Wood Steel and then was the former Executive Director of the Conshohocken Chamber of Commerce for over 12 years. Mr. Behrman was born in Columbus, IND, the son of the late John and the late Imogen Dipboye Behrman. Mr. Behrman was a graduate of Purdue Univ. with a degree in Chemical Engineering and went on to receive his Masters degree from Villanova Univ. After college he served our country during WW2 in the US Navy and attained the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Mr. Behrman was a former member of the Haws Ave. Methodist Church in Norristown and was a former member of their board of trustees, Adult Sunday School Teacher and Choir member and was also a former Lay Leader for the District. Currently he was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church of Lafayette Hill. He was a former little league baseball coach for Whitemarsh Twp. and was a past president for the Plymouth Whitemarsh Conshohocken Rotary Club and was a member of their Gundaker Foundation. His hobbies included Photography and music and enjoyed developing nas presenting musical slide show programs to area church groups and other area organizations . He is survived by his wife- June( Ball ) Behrman three sons: Robert Behrman of W.Virginia, Michael Behrman of Georgia, James Behrman of E.Greenville, PA and was predeceased by his son-the late David Behrman who died in 2010. 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter. Friends may call Monday 12/19 from 10-11am at Messiah United Methodist Church, 527 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA.. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Burial will be private in the Messiah United Methodist Church Memorial Garden Contributions may be made to above church or Keystone Hospice-8765 Stenton Ave. Wyndmoor,Pa. 19038.
