Obituary of Michael L. Matthews

Michael L. Matthews, age 74, of Lafayette Hill, PA died suddenly Sunday, July 2, 2017 while vacationing with his family in Avalon,NJ. . Mike was born July 7, 1942 in Reading, PA.. He is the son of the late George and the late Sara (Kaufman) Matthews. He is the beloved husband of Jean (Davenport) Matthews for over 51 years. He served in the Army and was employed by Unisys for over 30 years. Mike was a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College. He was an avid sports fan , coaching Little League and American Legion and umpiring baseball and softball.He was an active member of Saint Peter's Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill. Mike will be sorely missed by his devoted family and many friends. He is survived by his wife: Jean (Davenport) Matthews , his daughter: Carrie Matthews-Dobrowolski (Dennis), and one son: Patrick Matthews (Marcy); Brother of two sisters: Mary Cloues (Ed) and Sarah Fabius (Ray); 3 Grandchildren-Andrew,Kate and Emily,. Mike is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his cousins. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Monday, July 10 at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, 3025 Church Rd., Lafayette Hill, PA. 19444. Burial will be Saint Peter's Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, July 10 from 10-11am at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church. Memorial donations may be made to the above church. .
