Obituary of Madeline T. Moser

Please share a memory of Madeline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Madeline T. Moser (Trifiletti) of Lafayette Hill, PA passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Philadelphia on June 10, 1935. The youngest of three siblings of the late Antonio and Marcella Trifiletti nee DiTomasi also preceding her in death were her Sister Eleanor Marinelli (Trifiletti), Brother Carmen Trifiletti, her two nieces Marcy Dyer (Marinelli), Donna Dougherty (Marinelli) and two nephews Anthony Trifiletti and Timothy (Bunker) Dyer.

Madeline was the beloved wife of Edward Moser for 44 years before his passing in 2011. Loving mother of Teresa Gioia (Michael) of East Norriton, Danielle DeHart of Lafayette Hill and Marcella McBride (Mark) of Blue Bell and the cherished grandmother of Edward, Marissa, Richard and Madison, Great Grandmother to Angelo Edward and Aidan. She is also survived by her cat: Maggie Moser.

In 1943 her family moved to Joshua Road in Lafayette Hill and never left. She attended the former Saint Matthew’s grade school and high school (Class of 1953) in Conshohocken PA. Madeline was a proud member of the high school’s All Girl Marching Band where she played clarinet. When she finally stepped away from working in her family’s water ice business: (Crème Freeze) in Lafayette Hill and (Marcy’s) in Norristown after 20 years, she was able to be more involved with her home parish of Saint Philip Neri. She has been a parishioner since the church opened, attending daily mass- she has always been active in the Church. Before heading over to Church, she worked as the School Yard Monitor, where she was best known as the “Candy Lady” by all the children she loved dearly.

Working for the Church was her ideal dream job. Madeline worked for the late Monsignor Richard LaHart for 22 years and later Monsignor Charles Vance as Sacristan of St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church for 20 years. She was fondly referred to as the Pastor’s Assistant. Along with her daily duties, she really enjoyed the children’s masses, training the altar servers and the special events. She semi-retired in 2020 and just worked on the weekends.

Madeline was involved in many organizations: A Girl Scout Leader for over 10 years, past President of the SPN Women’s Guild, Member of the Parish Council, in charge of the Youth Activity Group and The Corresponding Secretary for the Phillipians (SPN’s Senior Citizen Group). She was also honored to be selected as Citizen of the Month in 2004 in culmination of the 300th Birthday of Whitemarsh Township.

She was a proud member and promoter of: The Miraculous Medal Association, Plymouth Meeting Historical Association, AARP, Arbour Day Foundation, FOP of Norristown and Whitemarsh, National Audobon Society, SPCA, Sons of Italy and the American Legion to name a few.

In her spare time Madeline enjoyed reading, her daily trips to WaWa, breakfast trips with friends especially the late Joan Chassey at the Market of Lafayette Hill. She was an avid bowler for many years. She loved collecting coins, completing crossword puzzles, hours of WordScapes, Scrabble playing with Francine Viti and Casino trips with Eileen Gravinese. On

the 4th of July she proudly hosted her annual picnic after the parade and loved dressing up every year for Halloween.

Her love of Faith, Family and Friends brought her so much joy. Madeline had a great sense of humor. She truly loved the people of Saint Philip Neri parish especially the school children and altar servers.
