Francis (Frank) Xavier Cantwell of Philadelphia, PA was called home to our lord on August 24, 2026 at the age of 77.  Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Marguerite Cantwell (nee Moughan), and his sisters Theresa Crowne and Mary Frances Cantwell.  

Frank is survived by his loving wife Nancy (nee Trimboli), his children Robert Cantwell (Sarah), Theresa “Colleen” Cantwell, Daniel Cantwell, Christine Miller (Russell) and Colleen McCabe.

He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia, Leo, Nicholas, Cynthia, Simon, Samuel, Fiona, Cassidy, Leila, and Emma as well as his siblings Marguerite Herbert (late Dennis), Catherine, Joseph, Fr. Stephen Cantwell CM, Timothy (Eunice), Michael and a brother-in-law Dennis Crowne. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frank was born and raised in the Germantown section of the city and attended Cardinal Dougherty High school. He enlisted in the United States Air force and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He had a strong interest in ancestry and his Irish heritage.  He is a member and past president of the Mayo Association of Philadelphia.  Along with his wife Nancy, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Frank was an avid football fan never missing an Eagles game and most especially a Notre Dame game.

He was very involved in his faith, attending mass daily and was a Eucharistic minister for Sunrise Nursing Home in Lafayette hill.

Frank was a true gentleman, who loved his family greatly and always had a positive influence on those he met.
