Helen M Yohn Obituary
Helen Marie Veronica Yohn, 81, of Upper Chichester, PA, was called home to our Lord on June 29th, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, on April 14th, 1945, Helen cultivated her faith and devotion to Christ from a young age. Guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible, Helen served God as an adult by caring for children with developmental disabilities at St. Mary of Providence Center and for veterans at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. Those who took the time to get to know Helen were richly rewarded with her humor, sharp wit, and friendship. Helen always made sure to keep in touch with those she cared about and was never afraid to speak her mind.
Helen had a special connection with animals, as God's creatures, and supported animal causes throughout her life. She especially loved her 'babies' Ricky, Holly, Bennie, Daisy, and Arthur. As a devoted member of her congregation, Helen traveled long distances to attend church services in Philadelphia and was most happy in church where she could fully express her love for God through prayer and song. Helen's inner strength, tenacity, and unwavering faith in God to carry her through difficult times is admired by all who knew her.
Helen is preceded in death by her loving mother, Elizabeth Snyder, and her younger brother, Joseph Samuel Yohn. She is survived by family members, Maria, John, and Noah Duerson and Jourdan Selkowitz. She is also survived by her friend and Pastor, Warren Polen and his wife, Linda Polen, as well the dedicated team at Biacon Family and Community Support Services.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held at Lownes Family Funeral Home on Monday, July 6th at 12pm. Viewing is scheduled for 11am. Donations in Helen's honor can be made to PAWS for People. https://www.pawsforpeople.org/
