James Davis, age 93, of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Walnut Hill, Florida, son of the late Marshall and Lois Davis, James spent his early years in Florida, attending Avon Park High School and later Erskine College before answering the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served during the Korean War.

In 1956, James moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community. He enjoyed a distinguished 38-year career with IBM before retiring in 1994.

Known as James to his family and Jim to his many friends, he was a quiet and hardworking man whose generosity touched countless lives. He never sought recognition for his kindness, but those who knew him understood that helping others came naturally to him. Whether through his time, support, wisdom, or encouragement, Jim was always willing to give of himself to those around him.

Above all else, he was devoted to his family. He is survived by his children, Scott Davis Sr. and his wife, Diane Bottomer Davis, of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and Sarah Davis Iula of York, Pennsylvania. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Loretta Owens Davis; his parents, Marshall and Lois Davis; his siblings, Rene Davis and Gloria Tondee; brother-in-law Virgil Tondee and his son-in-law, Daniel Iula.

A lifelong lover of baseball, Jim played the game during his years at Avon Park High School and was a player on a Florida state championship team. After moving to Philadelphia in 1956, he became a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan, beginning a passion that would last the rest of his life. Baseball became a family tradition, as Jim shared countless games and memories with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Some of his happiest moments were spent at the ballpark, cheering on the Phillies with family by his side. Win or lose, his loyalty never wavered. "Go Phillies!"

Jim's life was defined not by accolades or accomplishments alone, but by the quiet strength of his character, the love he shared with his family, and the generosity he extended to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.

Those who knew Jim will remember that whenever he was asked how he was doing, his answer was always the same:

"Not too bad for an old guy."

For 93 remarkable years, he lived those words well.
