John Edward Flynn (“Jef”) Corson passed peacefully on Thursday evening, May 28th, 2026. He was 85 years old. He has been preceded in death by his mother and father, Marjorie Topless Corson, and John Flynn, respectively. He was also preceded in death by adopted fathers, Carroll and Phil Corson, uncle Bolton Corson, sister Judy Lauler, step sisters Carol Corson and Katherine Krause, and adopted son Trevor Budny. He is survived by his wife, Carol Corson; children Samantha McKnight, Sean Corson, Flynn Corson, Mary Catherine Wilkerson, Chelsea Sears, and Johnna Lord; and grand children, Bolton and Reed McKnight, Nolan and Liam Corson, Kelly, Maeve, Imogen and Tallulah Corson, Casey and Quinn Sears, and Van Lord.

Jef’s impact was felt throughout the community. A trustee emeritus and former chair of the Board of Trustees at Ursinus College, he also served the college in numerous other capacities, including interim president. His service and leadership extended to numerous other organizations throughout the Philadelphia region, including Einstein, CHOP, Montgomery Hospital, and Montgomery County Community College. Through the Corson Foundation and his personal philanthropy, he helped create opportunities for countless individuals and families.

Beyond his many accomplishments, those who knew Jef will remember his wisdom, kindness, genuine care for others, and the unmistakable twinkle in his eye. He approached every opportunity with a desire to serve and brought warmth, humor, and perspective to those around him. His legacy is woven into the fabric of Montgomery County and will continue to inspire for years to come.

Above all, Jef was was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, he loved summers in Avalon, Dixieland and ragtime music, a touch (or occasionally more) of Irish whiskey, and any excuse to talk about his family…or the weather!
