Richard D. Lull Obituary
Richard Dixon Lull, known fondly to everyone as “Dick”, passed away May 9, 2026, peacefully at home while on Home Hospice care. He was born January 17, 1934, in New York, the son of Emily and Edward Lull. While he was growing up, his family traveled around a lot. After moving to Pennsylvania, Dick attended Germantown Academy and graduated from Villanova. He also followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps by attending the Naval Academy at Annapolis. Dick comes from a long line of military service. His great-grandfather, Edward Phelps Lull, fought for the Union during the Civil War. He was Captain of the USS Constitution, which at that time was the temporary Naval Academy of Annapolis (Maryland was a Confederate state at the time). His grandfather, Army Colonel Charles Edward Terry Lull, served during World War I. His father, Edward Earl Lull, fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Dick served as a Marine.
Dick was employed as a sales manager across the USA for Airstream trailers. Before retirement, he worked as a salesman for Jaguar on the Main Line.
Dick was a longtime member of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, Whitemarsh. He loved serving in Stephens Ministry, and he was a long-time member of the Cemetery Committee.
Dick was the past Commodore of the Tall Oaks Yacht Club; a member of Rock Hall Yacht Club, he was captain of a 34’ sailboat named the Southern Cross. He loved sailing and racing sailboats on Barnegat Bay and cruising the Chesapeake on a trawler named the Southern Cross. He was a member of the British Officers Club of Philadelphia, the Military Order of the Foreign Wars, the University #51 Masonic Lodge of Philadelphia, and a 32nd-degree Mason. A former member of the Philadelphia Cricket Club and a member of St. George’s Society.
Dick is survived by his brother Terry (Florida) and his sister Connie (Wyoming) and was predeceased by his brother Tom. Dick also has several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his loving partner of 38 years, Patricia Beard.
A Funeral Service will be held for Dick on Thursday, June 4th at 10:00 AM at Saint Thomas's Church Whitemarsh, 7020 Camp Hill Rd. Fort Washington, PA 19034.
The Interment will take place following the Funeral Service in the Church Cemetery.
