Tyler C. McNeil Obituary
Tyler C. McNeil, 40, of Chestnut Hill, devoted husband to Ale McNeil, proud father of Mackenzie and Chase McNeil, and supportive son and brother passed suddenly on Monday, April 13th.
Son of Robert D. McNeil and Jennifer C. McNeil, Tyler was raised at Springbank Farm in Coatesville, PA. A student at The Westtown School for 11 years, he graduated from Sanford School in 2004, earning his Eagle Scout along the way. A fierce competitor, he spent countless hours on the tennis court, a passion that continued throughout his life. He went on to graduate with honors from Boston College, where he formed lifelong friendships.
Tyler began his career in New York City with Cushman & Wakefield, where he rose to Senior Director and was named to Commercial Observer’s “30 Under 30.” After serving as Managing Director at Black Bear Asset Management, he returned to Philadelphia to co-found Catalyst City Development. Over the past decade, he focused on developing thoughtfully designed residential and mixed-use projects throughout the city. While he loved the work, it was the relationships he built along the way that meant the most to him.
Tyler was deeply committed to giving back, supporting organizations including the MdDS Foundation, the Claneil Foundation, the Buck Hill Conservation Foundation, Germantown Academy and Cheers for CHOP at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He brought the same energy and enthusiasm to his philanthropic work as he did to everything else in his life.
Tyler had a contagious energy and a magnetic personality. With his signature “What’s up?!” and ever-present smile, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was an extraordinary connector of people, always bringing others together and creating lasting friendships and partnerships.
In Ale, Tyler found his perfect match. It was love at first sight on the streets of New York City. Together, they built a life full of laughter, friendship, travel, and deep connection. Their greatest joy was their family as well as time spent at home in Chestnut Hill and in Buck Hill Falls, a place that held his heart. He loved his children beyond description and will forever be their biggest champion.
Tyler is survived by his wife, Ale McNeil, incredible children Mackenzie and Chase, Mother Jennifer Cox McNeil, and sister Kaitlyn Ward (Marc) and his three nieces Isabella, Mia and Taylor.
A celebration of life will be held at 11am on Sunday, May 17th at his childhood home, Springbank Farm at 301 Five Point Road in Coatesville, PA.
