Robert “Bob” McWilliams

Robert McWilliams, born in Philadelphia, PA, and of Lafayette Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at the age of 88. Bob lived a life defined by devotion to family, a commitment to education, and a distinguished legal career.

He was the beloved husband of the late Regina “Jean” McWilliams (née Mulligan), whom he married in 1959. Together, they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family. He was also preceded in death by their beloved daughter, Jeanne Marie (née McWilliams) O’Pella, who passed at the age of 36, and by his cherished granddaughter, Jeannie (née O’Pella) McCormick, who passed at the age of 31.

Bob was the son of the late John and Alice (Farrell) McWilliams. He was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School, Villanova University, and Temple University School of Law. He also served as a reservist in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1963. Bob enjoyed a respected legal career, retiring from CIGNA Insurance as a Managing Attorney.

An avid golfer, Bob especially enjoyed winters at Kelly Greens in Fort Myers, Florida, where he cherished time on the course with friends and family.

He is survived by his son, Bob McWilliams Jr. (Cathy), and his son-in-law, Daniel O’Pella (Bets). Bob was a devoted grandfather to Christopher (Sabriya), Ryan (Laura), Courtney, and Luke McWilliams, and Scarlett (née O’Pella) Ismail (Hesh), Victoria, Daniel, and Bridget O’Pella. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Zeke, Rory, Kalib, Kobi, Emma, MJ, Maddie, and Mia, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Betty) McWilliams and Edward (Rosemary) McWilliams.

Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His integrity, dedication, love of family, and passion for golf will live on through the many generations he touched.

Funeral Mass: Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
