Deborah G. Davis Obituary

Deborah G. Davis, a longtime resident of Lafayette Hill, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2025 after a valiant battle with cancer.  Debbie was born December 9, 1949 in Philadelphia to the late Clarence and Dorothy Gillespie, also longtime residents of Lafayette Hill.

Debbie was a graduate of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High school and Temple University. She was an accomplished, and well-respected professional in the Insurance Industry, holding numerous designations (C.P.C.U and C I.C), and for fifteen years taught the INS and Introduction courses for the Insurance Society of Philadelphia where she was also a faculty member.

She started her career with the Atlantic Companies in 1972. In 1977 she joined the Carnett Insurance Agency as an Account Executive and was promoted to Vice President. Twelve years later when Carnett closed, she joined the firm of McCrea & Gallen, continuing after the merger with USI Insurance. She became an Account Executive with Balmer & Company in 2001, moving in 2004 to The Lindsay Group where she remained until her retirement.

Her Christian faith was an integral part of Debbie’s life, sustaining her, and giving her the strength and courage she needed. Her warmth and kindness defined her and touched everyone she met. People were instantly drawn to her, "she never met a stranger, only friends she had not yet met."  And yet, she was also fiercely independent.

She loved digging in her garden, was passionate about music, and was a skilled pianist. She took much delight in watching her great-nephew Walker, when he was a toddler, tapping away on her piano keys. Ever the explorer, she made a priority to travel internationally, both solo and with friends and family, and eagerly followed the adventures of her great-niece Hadley. But she always returned home to the places closest to her heart, including Kiawah Island, South Carolina, and the Edgewater cottages in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Debbie valued education and was a lifelong learner and teacher. In addition to her mentorship and commitment to teaching Insurance, she taught ESL courses and was a constant presence as a Sunday School teacher in her places of worship. In her retirement she was a frequent attendee of a variety of adult education courses through local universities and Main Line School Night.

Debbie is survived by her niece Stephanie Ball, sister- in-law Susan Davis Sinkler, nephew-in-law Christopher Ball, great niece and nephew, Hadley and Walker Ball, and many close friends whom she considered family. She is predeceased by her ex-husband Joseph (Jay) Davis. She leaves behind a legacy of friendship, love, faith and so many memories to all who had the good fortune of knowing her. She will be deeply missed.

Debbie will be remembered with services on Saturday November 22, 2025 at Christ the KIng Presbyterian Church, 325 Fayette Street, Conshohocken.  Visitation will take place in the sanctuary at 10am and services beginning at 11am. Burial to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Ardmore, PA
