Dorothy S. Ruth, of Harleysville, PA, passed away peacefully on November 5th, surrounded by her family. She was 94.

Born and raised in Drexel Hill, Dorothy was a graduate of Upper Darby High School. She spent her career working as an administrative assistant, retiring from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Philadelphia. Dorothy’s faith was extremely important to her, and she devoted her time as a volunteer visiting patients at the Peter Becker Community, where she resided. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, dining out, watching PBS British dramas, and spending time with her family and friends. 

Dorothy was the wife of the late Robert R. Ruth. They were married for 38 years. She was the daughter of the late Margaret Lewis Fogerty and the mother of Margaret Hunsicker Fleischer (Steve), Mary Kay Posselli (Jim), and James Stranix, Jr. (Judith Prescott). She was grandmother to Sean Hunsicker (Lauren), Jennifer Stranix, James Posselli, and Andrew Posselli(Tina). She also had four great-grandchildren. Dorothywas stepmother to the late Sharon Kershner (Daryl), Brian Ruth (the late Robin) and Kevin Ruth (the late Melissa). She is also survived by four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was predeceased by sons Stephen and Paul Stranix, and her former husband, James Stranix, Sr.  

She was a resilient, loving and generous woman, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will held on November 12th at noon in the chapel at the Peter Becker Community in Harleysville.
