William Alan Black Obituary

William Alan Black, 74, of Philadelphia PA, passed away on September 27, 2025 in Naples, Florida. 


Bill was born in Philadelphia to Matthew and Marie Black on October 21, 1950. He attended Roxborough High School and graduated in 1968, then went on to serve his country in the US Air Force serving in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. He was a proud military serviceman and loved his travels and experiences in the Air Force. He received the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Air Force Training Ribbon. 


He worked as a state employee for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for many years and enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the beach, visiting zoos, parks and loved any nature related activities. 


Bill is survived by his wife Heiw Black of Taoyuan Taiwan, son William Eric Black and his wife Bethanne of Souderton Pa, daughter Lisa Hamilton and her husband Robert of Naples FL, sister Linda Lukens and her husband John of Plymouth Meeting PA, brother Michael Black and his wife Jerry of Mechanicsburg PA, grandchildren Ava and Hayden Black, and honorary grandchildren Luke and Angelina Schoener.  He is preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Marie Black as well as his brother Thomas Black.  


Funeral service will be held at St. Philip Neri Church on October 8, 2025 with a viewing at 10:00 and mass to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Avenue in Plymouth Meeting PA. Lownes Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. 


Memorial donations may be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA 350 East Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
