Margaret Hoffner Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Gillece Hoffner passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell, PA. She was 89.

Peggy was born in Burlington, NJ, to Charles and Margaret Gillece on February 26, 1936. She attended Burlington High School and spent most of her adult life in Blue Bell, PA.

Peggy was the busy mother of six including Lynne (Jeffrey) Kirkpatrick of Jacksonville, FL, Marie (Richard) Doyle of Ivyland, PA, and Martin (Stefani) Hoffner of Gwynedd Valley, PA. She was the dear sister of Richard Gillece (Susan) of Mount Laurel, NJ, and was preceded in death by her husband Laurence Hoffner, son Laurence Hoffner, Jr. (Nancy), daughter Denise Hoffner, son Stephen Hoffner, brother Charles Gillece, Jr., and sister Marie Kittleson.

She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: John (Sylwia) Heilmann, Kyle Kirkpatrick, Matthew (Lindsay) Heilmann, Andrew (Abbey) Doyle, Sean Kirkpatrick, Laurence III "Trey" (Stephanie) Hoffner, Kristen (Nick) Schaecher, Casey (Doug) Rheiner, Ryan (Andrea) Hoffner, Bridget Doyle, Molly Doyle, Brian Kirkpatrick, Christopher Hoffner, and Alexandra Hoffner. Her legacy continues to grow with eleven great grandchildren: Calla Heilmann, Wesley Heilmann, Hugh Heilmann, Brooke Heilmann, Quinn Heilmann, Margaret "Maggie" Rheiner, Ellie Hoffner, Henry Rheiner, Nolan Schaecher, Daniel Hoffner, and Jacob Hoffner.

Peggy was gregarious and loved spending time with her large and still-growing family. She loved Philly sports and attended countless Eagles games. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying all kinds of games with family, cheering at her kids' and grandkids' various sports games, hitting the beach at the Jersey shore or her beloved Monserrat, and toasting most evenings with a glass of wine, and an occasional Old Fashioned, "no garbage".

Peggy was a very active "lady" in her community. She was a fixture at Old York Road Country Club, where she played golf, bridge and was a member of their bowling team. She put her lovely voice to good use as one of the original members of the choir at Epiphany of Our Lord Church. She always flashed a stunning smile and never missed outings with her coffee and walking buddies.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 3050 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA and to her funeral mass to follow at 11:00. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery of West Conshohocken, PA.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Denise Hoffner's name to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (“PanCAN”) at pancan.org/donate or 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
