Nicholas A. Flocco Obituary

Nicholas A Flocco, age 84, passed away peacefully in his home in Lafayette Hill on August 20, 2025.

Born on May 30, 1941 in South Philadelphia, Nick was the son of the late Anthony and Rita (DiLullo) Flocco.  He was the loving husband of Clare Marie (Schwab) Flocco for 59 years.  He is survived by his three sons Nicholas (Liesl), Christian (Toni), Edward and grandchildren Carmela, Liliana, Corinne and Sofia.

Nick graduated from Southern High School and Temple University, both in Philadelphia.  He enlisted in the army in 1966, and served in the Army Medical Corps.

In his college years, he was a member of Alpha Phi Delta fraternity, where he made lifelong friendships.  Throughout most of his life, he and his fraternity brothers attended Temple football and basketball games and other social events and regularly participated in the Alpha Phi Delta annual conferences.

He was the director of financial aid at several local colleges and universities: Temple University, Drexel University, Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Chestnut Hill College. He was passionate about higher education and strove to give people the knowledge to apply to and pay for college.  An authority on financial aid, he gave advisory talks high schools in the Delaware Valley, was a guest on radio programs, and served on the Colonial School District scholarship committee.

Nick loved old movies and TV shows – Charlie Chan, westerns, and murder mysteries of any sort.  He had a special fondness for his favorite childhood cowboy, Hopalong Cassidy.  He enjoyed a house full of people, with all their bustle and noise.

A memorial service will be held at Lownes Funeral Home at 659 Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill on Thursday, August 28th at 3:00 p.m.
