Dr. Mary Weisbach Loveland, 91 years old, died July 23, 2025 in Philadelphia, PA.  She was born in Dover, NJ where she graduated high school and received her bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ.   Dr. Loveland graduated from Women’s Medical College in Philadelphia, PA where she helped to develop the fetal heart monitor.  She was appointed Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital.  When that hospital closed, Dr. Loveland then became a member of the Roxborough Hospital medical staff.  She had a very busy private practice for 33 years and delivered hundreds of babies to grateful parents.  By the end of her career, Dr. Loveland delivered/treated as many as 5 generations of women in the same family with pride and satisfaction.  She appreciated the wonderful care that she received at Roxborough Hospital, especially since it has “her hospital”.

Mary is survived by Sandra Dillon, her sister, Nancy Perkins, and many devoted friends who became family over the years.  Mary’s twin daughters, Kathleen Louise and Laura Diane, predeceased her.  

She greatly enjoyed walking the trails through the Wissahickon Creek in Fairmount Park. In the summer, she loved to travel to other countries and national parks, especially Yellowstone and the Redwoods.  Cape May and Maine, especially Ogunquit, were special to Mary.  She never did see her elusive Maine Moose but saw Puffins and many whales.  

Funeral services will be held on September 20, 2025 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118.  Visitation at 10:30 a.m. followed by mass at 11 a.m.  Burial will held on September 21 at Locust Hill Cemetery, 168 N. Sussex Street, Dover,  NJ.
