Doris Anna (Hofer) Turner passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at her residence in the Shannondell Retirement Community in Audubon, PA. She was 97.
Born August 15, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Doris was the youngest child of William and Anna (Emhoff) Hofer. She graduated from Jules E. Mastbaum Vocational High School in Kensington, Philadelphia. She worked at Tastykake Baking Company as a clerk before marrying her long time friend and World War II pen pal Harvey R. Turner on May 7, 1949. Doris was blessed to be a mother to six children and being a wife and mother was her heart’s desire. She lovingly devoted her life to raising her children and supporting her husband who was a self-employed beer distributor.
The couple moved to East Norriton, Pennsylvania in 1955 and later in 1966 to Plymouth Meeting where Doris resided until 2008, upon which she moved into the Shannondell Retirement Community where she lived the last 17 years.
Family was the heartbeat of Doris’ life and she loved to spend time with them. Doris was an accomplished knitter and loved to read books in her free time.
Doris is survived by her daughter Dianne C. Cestrone and her husband Gene; daughter Jo-Anne T. Heebner; son Harvey R. Turner, Jr. and his wife Dawn; son William R. Turner and his wife Carol; daughter Nancy L. Anthony and her husband John; daughter Kathy L. Texter and her husband Robert. Additionally she had 13 grandchildren: Joshua Heebner (Laura), Benjamin Heebner (Denise), Timothy Heebner (Megan), Jennifer Schaard (Erik), Katie Hackett (Joe), Kimberly Heffron (Dan), John Anthony, III (Mandy), Laura Anthony, Megan Turner, Rachel Miller (Brandon), Erik Texter, Leah Texter and Rebecca Texter. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren: Anna, Jack, Andrew, Lucy, Addison, Charlie, Emma, Hannah, Lily, Henry, Hayley, Hazel and Miles.
Doris was predeceased in death by her parents, her sister Katherine, her brother William, her husband, Harvey and her son-in-law, Roger W. Heebner.
Burial will be private for family. Celebration of life to be held at a date to be determined.
