It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sophia Chitjian, beloved sister, aunt, artist, teacher, and friend, who departed this life peacefully at the age of 95.
Born in Philadelphia in 1930, Sophia lived a life of passion and independence. As a devoted sister to Martin Chitjian and cherished aunt to Martin, Adam, and Kara, she was a pillar of strength in her family, embodying the values of tradition and togetherness.
A gifted artist and dedicated art teacher, Sophia inspired generations with her creativity, curiosity, and love of beauty. Her work, both in the classroom and on the canvas, reflected her deep connection to the world around her.
In an era when it was far from easy, Sophia forged an independent path, traveling the world with courage and a thirst for adventure. Her adventurous spirit led her across continents and cultures. Despite her independence, family remained at the center of her world.
Sophia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, former students, and all who were fortunate to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, beauty, and love.
