Obituary of Lawrence Muntz
In Loving Memory of Lawrence A. Muntz
September 15, 1944 – May 1, 2025
Lawrence A. Muntz, of Crystal River, Florida, and Greentown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was 80 years old.
Born on September 15, 1944, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Larry was the cherished youngest child of Harold and Dorothy Muntz, and beloved brother to David and Margaret. He grew up with a strong sense of family, community, and faith—values that would remain central throughout his life.
Larry attended Michigan State University, where fate and a bit of Spartan magic brought him back together with the love of his life, Judith Willis. They married on June 16, 1966, beginning a beautiful journey of love and partnership. Shortly thereafter, Larry proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful 30-year career in sales with Kellogg’s, where his warmth, wit, and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
Larry and Judy shared a devoted marriage filled with laughter, family, and adventure until her passing in 2009. In the autumn of life, he was fortunate to find love once again with Sonna Courson, whom he married in the fall of 2010. Together, they shared over a decade of travel, joy, and companionship, always returning to the family and friends who were the center of Larry’s world.
A man who deeply loved both people and places, Larry divided his time between summers on beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack in Pennsylvania and winters under the warm Florida sun in Crystal River. He was an avid golfer, a fan of cold beer, a Sunday morning regular at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Hamlin, PA, and Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church in Crystal River. Larry had a gift for conversation—his dry humor, kind heart, and charm left lasting impressions and countless stories among those lucky enough to know him.
He is survived by his loving children: Jeff Muntz, Anne Reibstein (married to Joshua Reibstein), and Dori Alesio. He was the proud grandfather of KC Coyle (engaged to Wills Combs), Tori Coyle, Joseph Muntz, Angela Muntz (engaged to Jared Jadick), and Jocelyn Alesio, and the adoring great-grandfather of Jackson Combs, Charlotte Combs, and Maverick Jadick.
Those who knew Larry will remember a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and brought joy and humor to every room he entered. Whether sharing stories on the porch, teeing off on the green, or enjoying a laugh with friends, Larry’s spirit was infectious and enduring.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on November 8, 2025, at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, Crystal River, FL. Family and friends are warmly invited to honor and remember a truly remarkable man.
