Heather Rowen Williams (Currie)
Heather Rowen Williams, nee Heather Buchanan Rowen, 81, of Chestnut Hill, passed away at Keystone House on April 26, 2025.
She was born Oct. 22, 1943, in Detroit, MI.
Heather is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Craig Currie; son David R. Williams and his wife, Judith Scarl; son Robert H. Williams and his wife, Amy Kuntz; sister, Georgia Lou Rowen; niece, Melanie S. Rowen; step-daughter, Michelle Viall and her husband Frank James (Jamie) Viall III; grandchildren, James Viall and Owen Viall; and many extended and chosen family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. Rowen and Isabel Rowen (Bruyere).
Heather was a lover of music and dancing, adored every dog she ever met, and enjoyed a good (or bad) pun like few others.
Heather graduated from the University of Michigan and earned masters degrees in French and in Teaching of English as a Second Language. She was a dedicated educator for more than 40 years, specializing for the last two decades of her career in teaching English language and American business culture to business students from outside the United States. She enjoyed international travel and was passionate about cultural exchange. She was also dedicated to her family and friends, and will be missed dearly by her extensive community.
A celebration of Heather’s life will be held on May 31, 2025 at Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting, located at 20 E. Mermaid Ln., Philadelphia 19118. Guests will be welcomed starting at 10 AM, with the celebration program beginning at 11 AM and a light luncheon reception to follow. Arrangements were made by Lownes Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Heather’s honor to the National Down Syndrome Society.
