Obituary of Joyce A. Bailey
Joyce Ann Bailey (nee Nagle), 83, of Roxborough, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 28, 2025.
Joyce was born on January 8, 1942, in Ashley, Pennsylvania, to Caroline (nee Marcovitch) and Joseph Nagle. She was only 2 pounds when she was born, at home, in a snowstorm, and surprised all that she survived the night. She remained a survivor until her passing. She graduated, in 1960, from Roxborough High School.
Joyce was a devoted and loving mother to Susan Lowery, and her favorite son-in-law, Ed. She also treasured her grandmother title as “Mom-Mom Daisy” to three grandsons, Edward III (Alison), Bradley (Rachel Stowell), and Kyle (Bridget), and her great-grandson, Thomas. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as long-time friends, Lucy Woeltje and Marie Dunne.
Joyce loved her family and friends dearly and never forgot a birthday or, an occasion, always sending a card with her signature stickers adorned on the envelope, so you knew who it was sent from before opening it. Over the years, she worked at Augsburg-Fortress, ERCI, Seven-Up Company, and Andorra Woods. She was a bowler and part of a weekly women’s group, “The Monday Nighters,” with her long-time friend, Lois Michael, where they would make crafts for the church bazaars. She also crocheted many blanket for family and friends throughout the years. Once her grandsons came along, she loved watching them play their many sports and would always be there to cheer them on. One of her favorite ways to spend her time was traveling to the Jersey Shore with family and beach buddies, Beverly Lowery and Herb Snyder. And, of course, we can’t forget her soap operas, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital and those who knew her, did not call her during those times.
She was known for her warm smile and loving heart and will be sorely missed but she will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
