Dolores was born to Agnes and Edmund Maxwell October 21, 1935 in Francisville, Philadelphia. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 2017 and her daughter Maureen Minetti in 2008 and her younger sister Agnes “Tess” Enck in 1999.
Dolores grew up in Philadelphia and resided most of her life in East Oak Lane, Mount Airy, and Lafayette Hill, PA where she moved with her parents and sister Tess. She met her husband Tom walking down the street in Germantown and the rest was history.
She was proud of her education from Little Flower High School and the Cecilian Academy. She held many professions in her life including Bell Telephone operator and teacher at St. Francis in Fairmount, but by far her most coveted role ever was mother and Grandmom.
Dolores was a long-time member of Plymouth Country Club with her husband Tom where she enjoyed running the junior golf program for many years. At Plymouth Country Club she shared her love of family with her kids and grandkids and enjoyed watching them participate on both the junior golf and swim teams.
Dolores was an active Whitemarsh resident never missing a 4th of July parade and she loved shopping and lunching in Chestnut Hill with her children, friends and sister in law.
Dolores was devoted to the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal in Germantown and was a faithful Roman Catholic. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Parish in Lafayette Hill where she sent all of her children and was a CCD teacher, Girl Scout leader, and a Phillipians member. She was also a proud Red Hat Society member.
Dolores was very proud of her Irish heritage, travelling several times to Ireland to visit the home of her ancestors. She especially loved visiting Galway and Mayo. Most of her life during the summers she would be found vacationing with her family at the Jersey Shore. She loved her days on the beach and shopping on the avenue in Ocean City, NJ and her travels to Walt Disney World, Ireland, and Notre Dame.
Dolores was a devoted wife for over 60 years, mother, grandmom and aunt. She was a proud mother of Thomas Jr. (Cheryl), James (Maureen), Dolores Higgins (Tom), and Eileen Herncane (Tucker) and also her daughter Maureen Minetti (Angelo). Dolores was a loving and doting grandmother to 16 grandchildren: Christopher, Jeffrey and Michael Minetti. Angela McBride, Carrie Kennedy, Thomas, Patrick, Kevin, Shannon, Brendan, and Claire McAllister. Thomas, Conor, Ronan, and Ciara Higgins and Tucker Herncane Jr. all who adored and will miss her dearly. She also had 27 great grandchildren. Grandmom never missed a swim meet, St. Joe’s Prep football game, baseball, soccer, field hockey, basketball game or event that her grandchildren invited her to, for as long as she was able.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Philip Neri parish for the Maureen Minetti Scholarship fund – 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA, 19444.
Until we meet again mom, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
