Obituary – Jane C. Elliott Lafayette Hill, PA – Jane Connington Elliott of Ft. Washington, PA passed peacefully at the Hill of Whitemarsh, Lafayette Hill, PA on 1/14/18 surrounded by her family. She suffered from dementia for many years. A native of New York, NY she was born on July 30, 1929 to Charles S. Connington, Sr. and Virginia (Konti) Connington. Jane was raised in Pelham, NY and graduated from Pelham High School in 1947. She graduated from Barnard College in 1951. On June 23, 1951 Jane married Robert H. Elliott, Jr. (Bob) after meeting him a few months earlier at a spring dance that he and his friends had crashed. They made their home on Church Rd. in Oreland PA until 1963 when they moved to Ft. Washington, PA. Jane was an avid tennis player, playing into her early 80's. She also enjoyed golf, squash, skiing, and skeet shooting in her favorite place, Sun Valley, Idaho. Jane's interest in travel took her around the world visiting Ireland, France, Austria, Hungary, Thailand , Australia and New Zealand. A dedicated supporter of the arts, she regularly attended the theatre, museums and Philadelphia Orchestra performances. She furthered her interest in history and culture as a member of the Questers Club. Jane loved entertaining her friends and family. She spent many hours tending her poolside gardens and preparing for festive occasions. An accomplished seamstress, she could be seen putting the finishing touches on a dress she would don that evening. Her sweet and compassionate nature was fulfilled while volunteering as a Stephen Minister caring for people in times of crisis. Survivors include her two daughters, Candace Foresta (Mark) of Arlington, MA and Dee Llewellyn (Bryan) of Potomac, MD; three granddaughters, Amanda Foresta, Grace Llewellyn and Jessica Llewellyn. She also leaves three nieces, two nephews and two cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, her brother, Charles S. Connington Jr., her parents and stepmothers, Helen (Webber) Connington and Verna (Wine) Connington. A service in celebration of Jane's life will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia PA on Saturday May 5 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane's memory to the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill. Her family wishes to thank many people for her extraordinary care during her long illness - the staff of Home Instead, Lafayette Hill, the staff of the Hill at Whitemarsh and the staff of Caring Hospice.
