Joan E. ( Laird). Matis, age 85, of Lafayette Hill, PA died Friday, May 19, 2017 at home in Lafayette Hill. Joan was born January 14, 1932 in Harrington Park, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Alfred and the late Ella (Pellasaire) Laird. She is the beloved wife of Richard D. Matis. Joan and Dick have just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. About a year ago, Joan and Dick welcomed a fourth generation to their family, with the addition of Rose Donnelly, and Elise Zanchettin. Joan loved her rose garden, which started accidentally, when Dick hit her favorite (Dolly Parton) with the edge trimmer. As a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Joan donated her creative skills, to restoring and maintaining all the costumes, for the annual Boar's Head Festival. Joan enthusiastically attended monthly luncheons of her sorority, which is comprised of members of her 1950s girl scout troop. God has another angel. She is survived by her husband: Richard D.Matis and two daughters: Debbie Donnelly (Frank) and Karen Zanchettin; Sister of Roy E. Laird; 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
