Obituary of Eugene F. Koons Sr.

Eugene F. Koons Sr., age 87 of Lafayette Hill PA, formerly of Chestnut Hill died Monday (4/19) in the Saint Joseph's Villa ,Flourtown,Pa. He was a Retired Horseman and owner of the Chestnut Hill Stables. Mr. Koons Sr. was born in Phila., PA, the son of the late Sherman R. and the late ANNA Kelly Koons. Husband of the late Mary (Moore) Koons who had just died in Sept. 2009. Mr. Koons was a graduate of Springfield High School, Montgomery County.Before heading off to war he was employed by The George W.Wiedner Farm. He served our country in the Navy during WW2 as a Gunners mate 3rd class on the USS Chandeleur .He was a member of The Arthur V. Savage American Legion post # 0100 in Wyndmoor and VFW post 6650 in Ocean City NJ. Mr. Koons was a member of the Penna. Thorobred Proffesional Horsemens Assn. and the New Jersey Thorobred Horsemans Assn along with the Professional Horsemens Assn. locally. Mr. Koons also enjoyed his home in Ocean City NJ. and spending time with his family. He is survived by four daughters: Mary Lou Lanni (Guy) of Grenich, CONN, Kathy Monastero (Sam) of Blue Bell, PA, Peggy Barrack (Jeff) of Gaithersburg, MD, Ann Iggi of Ft. Washington, PA one son: Gene F. Koons Jr. (Jackie) of Dedham, MASS three sisters: Margaret Bradley of Abington, PA, Erma Munnelly of Levittown, PA, Gerrie Poliquin of Yardley, PA 10 Grand, 6 Great Grandchildren, He was predeceased by siblings- Joe, Sherman (Dottie) and Anna May Friends may call Friday 4/23 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Lownes Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, PA.. Funeral mass will be held Sat.4 /24 at 10:00 am in the Saint Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike Lafayette Hill pa. 19444 .there will not be a viewing on Saturday. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers- Contributions may be made to above church or Saint Joseph's Villa, Flourtown,Pa.. For further info.
